In April in Charleroi, the city of the giant Julia, ℘ℊ gathered for a
banquet, accompanied by a display in public space. This autumn, in
partnership with Lille3000 and the FRAC Grand-Large in Dunkerque, the
team Denicolai & Provoost · Antoinette Jattiot · Nord · Spec uloos,
the giants of the journey to Venezia and their new guests open a new
chapter, on their way to northern France.

On Saturday at 2 p.m., the giants of ℘ℊ, the giants Jean-Baptiste
Carpeaux from Valenciennes and Jeanne Maillote from Lille, enter the
wasteland behind Saint-Sauveur station. Their procession leads them to
listen to the site, a former freight station under transformation and
subject to the pressure of redevelopment projects.
Then at 4 p.m., still on Saturday, in Halle B of the Saint Sauveur
station, a hybrid ball, somewhere between a village festival and trance
dancing, brings the giants and communities together around a giant
12-metre inflatable kutch made from truck tarpaulins, created with
artist Lucas Engels. The dance opens to the rhythm of the percussionists
of Salamba and the Gnawa musicians (Molenbeek, BE), continues to the
sound of the Pavilion installation and then to the mixes of the DJs of
Dancing Petticoats. Bodies warm up by sharing a dance or a drink.
From Saturday to Sunday, between noon and 7 p.m. in the cinema, an
audiovisual installation runs in a loop, featuring elements shown in the
Belgian pavilion, the video of the trip, and ‘Quantizing folklore’, a
remix by Senjan Jansen of ‘La claque’, a composition by Moha Ezatvar,
played by the percussionists of Salamba. This alternates with ‘7
traversèrent’, a sound piece by Laszlo Umbreit composed from recordings
of ℘ℊ's trip to Venezia in March 2024.

℘ℊ is coming to an end. The final version of the film of the Belgian
Pavilion installation has been expanded to include Charleroi and Lille's
chapters. It plays in a loop in a room at the FRAC, still accompanied
by sound pieces by Senjan Jansen and Laszlo Umbreit. The gigantic kutch
measures the vertical space to lead to this room. The giants did not
make the journey for this second part of chapter 7, for the final twist
in the script, but the skirt door - initially positioned above the
entrance of the Belgian Pavilion - changes its scale, inviting the
bodies that pass through it to experiment it differently.

En avril à Charleroi, dans la ville de la géante Julia, ℘ℊ s'est réuni
autour d’un banquet, marqué par un affichage dans l'espace public. Cet
automne, en partenariat avec Lille3000 et le FRAC Grand-Large à
Dunkerque, l'équipe Denicolai & Provoost · Antoinette Jattiot · Nord
· Spec uloos, les géant·es du voyage à Venezia et leurs nouveaux·lles
invité·es poursuivent leur trajet vers le Nord de la France.

Le samedi à 14h, les géant·es de ℘ℊ, les géant·es Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux
de Valencienne et Jeanne Maillote de Lille s'engagent dans la friche
derrière la gare Saint Sauveur. Leur procession les conduits à l'écoute
du site, une ancienne gare de frêt en transformation soumis à la
pression de projets de réhabilitation.
Puis à 16h, toujours le samedi, dans la halle B de la gare Saint
Sauveur, un bal hybride, entre la fête de village et les danses transes,
fait danser les géant·es et les communautés autour d'un kutch gonflable
géant de 12 m façonné avec l'artiste Lucas Engels en bâches de camion.
La danse s'ouvre au rythme des percussionnistes de Salamba et des
musiciens Gnawa (Molenbeek, BE), se poursuit au son de l'installation du
pavillon puis au fil des mixes des dj·ettes de Dancing Petticoats. Les
corps se réchauffent en partageant une danse ou une boisson.
Du samedi au dimanche, entre 12h et 19h dans la salle de cinéma, une
installation audiovisuelle tourne en boucle reprenant des éléments
montrés dans le pavillon Belge, la vidéo du voyage et 'Quantizing
folklore', un remix par Senjan Jansen de 'La claque', une composition de
Moha Ezatvar, jouée par les percussionnistes de Salamba. À cela
s'alterne '7 traversèrent', une pièce sonore de Laszlo Umbreit composée à
partir des enregistrements du voyage de Petticoat Government vers
Venezia en mars 2024.

℘ℊ touche à sa fin. La version finale du film de l'installation du
Pavillon Belge est augmentée des épisodes à Charleroi et à Lille. Il
tourne en boucle dans une salle du FRAC, toujours accompagnée des pièces
sonores de Senjan Jansen et Laszlo Umbreit. Le kutch géant mesure
l'espace vertical pour conduire vers cette salle. Les géant·es n'ont pas
fait le voyage pour cette seconde partie du chapitre 7, pour le dernier
rebond du scénario, mais la jupette de la porte d'accès - initialement
positionné sur la façade du Pavillon belge - change d'échelle, invitant
les corps qui la passent dessous à une autre expérience.

visible sans encombre sur la myriade de supports sur lesquels vous nous
lisez, et débarrassé de la surveillance des plateformes mailchimpisées.
On préfère donc faire confiance à l'échelle du format texte pour lequel
l'e-mail a été conçu en 1965, donner un carottage des images compatibles
avec les 24 caractères de largeur des plus petits écrans, et vous
refiler les url sous chaque image pour les consulter en full option.

In april verzamelde ℘ℊ zich in Charleroi, de stad van de reuzin Julia,
rond een banket, dat werd gekenmerkt door een campagne met beelden op
borden in de publieke ruimte. Dit najaar, in samenwerking met Lille3000
en de FRAC Grand-Large in Dunkerque, zet het team Denicolai &
Provoost · Antoinette Jattiot · Nord · Spec uloos, samen met de reuzen
van de reis naar Venezia en hun nieuwe gasten hun reis verder naar
Noord-Frankrijk.

Op zaterdag om 14.00 uur betreden de reuzen van ℘ℊ, Jean-Baptiste
Carpeaux uit Valencienne en Jeanne Maillote uit Lille, het braakliggende
terrein achter station Saint Sauveur. Hun stoet brengt hen tot een
dialoog met de plek, een voormalig goederenstation dat momenteel wordt
verbouwd en onder druk staat van renovatieprojecten.
Dan om 16.00 uur, nog steeds op zaterdag, in Hal B van station Saint
Sauveur, vindt een hybride bal plaats, ergens tussen een dorpsfeest en
trancedansen, waarbij de reuzen en de gemeenschappen dansen rond een
gigantische, 12 meter lange, opblaasbare kutch, gemaakt door kunstenaar
Lucas Engels van vrachtwagenzeilen. De dans opent met het ritme van
Salamba-percussionisten en Gnawa-muzikanten (Molenbeek, BE), gaat verder
op de klanken van de paviljoeninstallatie en vervolgens op de mixen van
de Dancing Petticoats DJ's. De lichamen warmen op terwijl ze samen
dansen of een drankje nuttigen.
Van zaterdag tot zondag, tussen 12 en 19 uur, draait in de bioscoopzaal
een audiovisuele installatie in een loop met elementen uit het Belgische
paviljoen, de video van de reis en 'Quantizing folklore', een remix
door Senjan Jansen van 'La claque', een compositie van Moha Ezatvar,
gespeeld door de percussionisten van Salamba. Dit wordt afgewisseld met
'7 traversèrent', een geluidsstuk van Laszlo Umbreit, gecomponeerd op
basis van opnames van de reis van Petticoat Government naar Venezia in
maart 2024.

℘ℊ loopt ten einde. De definitieve versie van de film over de
installatie in het Belgische Paviljoen wordt aangevuld met episodes in
Charleroi en Lille. De film wordt in loop afgespeeld in een zaal van de
FRAC, steeds begeleid door de geluidsstukken van Senjan Jansen en Laszlo
Umbreit. De gigantische kutch meet de verticale ruimte die naar deze
zaal leidt. De reuzen maakten de reis niet voor dit tweede deel van
hoofdstuk 7, voor de laatste wending in het scenario, maar de rok van de
toegangsdeur – oorspronkelijk geplaatst op de gevel van het Belgische
Paviljoen – verandert van schaal en nodigt de lichamen die eronderdoor
lopen uit tot een andere ervaring.
